On the islands of Arholma and Idö you'll find a real archipelago landscape with fields, shore meadows, pastures and deciduous trees.
Arholma is one of the most well-known islands in the Stockholm archipelago, with both barren rocks and cultivated cultural landscape. Because Arholma is the last island before Åland, the island has always had strategic importance — it was here that the Russians began their plundering of the Stockholm archipelago in 1719, and during the Cold War the Arholma barrier was the first outpost in the defence of Stockholm.
