Skärgården ser annorlunda ut från vattnet. Öarna får djup, sunden blir smala passager i stället för linjer på en karta, och man förstår varför bebyggelsen ligger där den ligger. En båttur är det snabbaste sättet att begripa landskapet.
Fyra sorters turer
- Linjetrafik — skärgårdsbåtar som går enligt tidtabell mellan bryggor. Billigast, och man kan stiga av och på.
- Sightseeingturer — rundturer med guidning, ofta några timmar, tur och retur från samma hamn.
- Charter och taxibåt — hela båten hyrs, ni bestämmer rutten. Passar sällskap och den som vill nå en särskild ö.
- Temaresor — sälsafari, fyrbesök, kvällsturer, fisketurer.
Säsongen
Skärgårdstrafiken följer sommaren. De flesta turer går från juni till augusti, med tätast trafik i juli. Före och efter är utbudet mycket mindre, och vintertid går få eller inga turer.
Det här är den enskilt viktigaste planeringsfaktorn: kontrollera tidtabellen för den dag du tänkt åka, inte för säsongen i allmänhet. Turerna varierar mellan veckodagar.
Hur planerar man?
Tänk baklänges från sista turen hem. Det avgör hur länge du kan stanna på ön, och det är ett vanligt misstag att räkna fel på.
Räkna också med att linjetrafik kan ställas in vid hård vind. Ha en plan för vad som händer om båten inte går.
Vad ska man ta med?
- Varmare kläder än på land. Det är alltid blåsigare och svalare till sjöss.
- Vindtätt ytterplagg, även en solig dag.
- Solskydd. Vatten reflekterar, och det går fort.
- Mat och dryck om turen är lång — utbudet ombord varierar.
Blir man sjösjuk?
I innerskärgården sällan. Längre ut kan det gunga rejält vid frisk vind. Sitt mitt i båten, håll blicken mot horisonten och gå ut i friska luften om det känns.
Går det med hund?
Ofta, men reglerna varierar mellan aktörer. Fråga i förväg.
