Björkö-Arholma Church is located on Björkö, on a rocky knoll by the road towards Simpnäs, opposite Dragsviken. During a renovation in the 1950s, the church received its distinguished chancel painting, Himlalotsen (The Heaven Pilot), made by the artist and Björkö son Harald Lindberg.
For 500 years, Björkö-Arholma belonged to Vätö parish on the other side of Vätösund. It was risky to travel to the church during large parts of the year, which is why, in the early 1900s, people wanted their own church. The mission house was made available and an assistant vicar was employed, and with that Björkö-Arholma formed its own parish. The bell tower was erected in 1910 and the churchyard was laid out 1 km from the church. There was already a burial ground in Rumshamn for shipwrecked foreign sailors. On the last day of September 1928, Archbishop Natan Söderblom consecrated the newly renovated church. The church holds about 115 people.
