Blidö historically belonged to the Länna parish. In the 1700s, Erik Lejonhuvud was granted permission to build a chapel on the island, something that was not popular with the people of Länna, who thereby lost the contribution towards the upkeep of Länna Church.
It was not until the 1780s that the right was obtained to lay out a churchyard at the chapel. In the late 1850s the new church was built with the chancel facing north. The altarpiece and baptismal chapel were signed by the artist Gunnar Torhamn. The communion silver and baptismal stand come from the old chapel, as do a couple of beautiful chandeliers that, according to legend, had been hidden in the water during the Russian raids. In the church there is a votive ship from the 1600s as well as a barque built by a sailor from the area. To get to Blidö Church, take bus 676 from Tekniska Högskolan to Campus Roslagen. Change to bus 634 towards Blidö and get off at Blidö Gård.
