Blidö Sockens Hembygdsförening

The center of the organization is the boatman's cottage located in Oxhalsö on the northern part of Blidö, near the ICA. The boatman's cottage has been in the same location and largely looked the same since the 1730s. It is owned by Oxhalsö village association and has therefore not been subjected to the renovations and extensions that soldier and boatman cottages that became summer cottages have undergone. The boatman's cottage was renovated under the direction of the County Museum a few years ago and has since been furnished as it likely looked in the late 1800s, when the last boatman August Sjöblom Skog lived there with his wife Josefina and eight children. At the boatman's cottage, the local heritage association organizes various programs every summer. On these occasions, exhibitions are also shown: "The last boatman August Sjöblom Skog and his family", "Selma – the eldest daughter gets married", "War - and what did the women do" about the Housewives Association, and "The maid Elin – the letter from Kolsvik 15 years later". According to the purpose clause in the statutes, Blidö Parish Local Heritage Association shall protect and maintain the heritage environment and its cultural heritage and pass it on to future generations. The association shall also be active in current issues concerning the development of the village for future generations.
