Börstil Church is a spacious neoclassical hall church with a tall, sturdy tower. Because of its size, it's also colloquially known as the cathedral of Roslagen. In the chancel there is an altarpiece from 1737 by Olof Gerdman, and in the chancel vault there are still partial lime paintings from the Middle Ages.
The church was built of granite in the 1300s, and in the 1400s the vaults were built and the church was decorated with lime paintings. In 1719 the church was burned down by the Russians but was restored afterwards. In 1783 an organ by Olof Schwan, organ builder in Stockholm, was inaugurated. In the 1850s a major rebuilding of the church was carried out, when the tall tower was erected while at the same time the roof was lowered to its current level. In the 1980s a thorough exterior renovation and an extensive interior restoration were carried out.
