Early Round — 35 km cycling route around Roslagen's most beautiful inland lake

Erken is one of the region's largest lakes and is considered one of Roslagen's most beautiful. The name refers to the water's glittering clarity. A cycling route of approximately 35 km runs around the lake — a reasonable day trip for the moderately trained cyclist, mostly on asphalt with occasional gravel sections.

The route conveniently starts at Skederid or Finsta and takes you north through the open agricultural landscape around the villages of Malsta and Lohärad. Continue westward toward Kristineholm and then northeast past Koludden toward Norr Järsö. Along the way you pass several nature reserves — excellent rest stops with views of the lake and the surrounding cultivated lands.

A few kilometers south of Järsö, along route 76, lies Svanberga with a pleasant bathing area and a Viking village that opens periodically during summer. From here the route turns south back toward the starting point. The terrain is flat to gently rolling, which makes Erken round accessible for most — bring a picnic and count on three to four hours of active cycling. The route is marked in Naturkartan and on Norrtälje Municipality's cycling maps.
