Fäbergets nature reserve

The nature reserve is approximately 45 hectares in size and consists of an older conifer-dominated forest that in places has characteristics of old-growth forest on soil with limestone influence. The area features elevated sections with forest on rocky ground as well as damp areas determined by the topography. A larger low-lying area with swamp forest is found in the central part of the reserve, which is also registered as a key biotope. Along the southern boundary there is an elevated area called "Fäberget", from which the reserve takes its name. The forest environment is generally rich in structures in the form of old spruce and pine, standing and fallen dead wood in various stages of decomposition, damp stable swamp forest environment, limestone-influenced soil and rocky ground with slow-growing trees with lichen flora. Species finds in the area include several red-listed fungal species, including a number of unusual tooth fungi including the bearded tooth fungus, copper tooth fungus, Borgsjö bolete and cracked tooth fungus. The area also has a rich cryptogam flora and vascular plant flora with species such as green shield moss and wood stepladder moss, toothwort, wood knot-root, green wintergreen and shade primrose.
