Fasterna Church was built in the shape of a cross just after the turn of the century in 1800. The Mörby castle ruin was used as a quarry. The model for the church is Adolf Fredrik's Church in Stockholm.
The church was erected on the same site where the older one, which was probably built in the 1200s, had stood. Some of the medieval church's furnishings were sold at auction in 1811, but the baptismal font was kept and now stands in the church. The stately altarpiece and the organ are gifts from the Reutersköld family of Rånäs ironworks.
