Forsmark Church

The interior of the church is in late Gustavian style and was designed by the interior architect Louis Masreliez. The pipe organ for the newly built church was made by the instrument and musical-clock maker Pehr Strand in Stockholm. The church's interior has largely kept its late Gustavian style. The nave's large round-arched windows and free space give a bright and friendly church room. On the short walls there are two semicircular projections that break up the otherwise entirely rectangular interior. In the east, the chancel with the altar designed as a sarcophagus, and in the west a gallery for the ironworks' gentry. In a burial vault beneath the chancel rest the builder's family and relatives. Forsmark Church is a neoclassical church with a tower and an internal chancel apse. The western façade is especially interesting. The architect Olof Tempelman designed a heavy cornice that also runs around the tower. The cornice is supported by Doric pilasters. The western portal makes a powerful impression with its two pilasters and the triangular gable above.
