Gräsö

Gräsö has a cultural landscape with outer skerries and deciduous forests. The island features cycle paths, walking trails, sandy beaches, and camping and hostel accommodation. Every year, the Gräsö Art Week event is held, when artists exhibit their work around the island.

Gräsö gård nature reserve: Adjacent to the ferry landing on Gräsö is Gräsö gård nature reserve, with small fields between rocky outcrops and grazing cows along the shores. There are bathing opportunities at Kattskär and meadows to walk through. Two circular trails of 1.7 and 3.5 km respectively run through an enclosed area with pastures and undulating forest terrain. At Kattskär there is a fire pit and firewood store.

Askskär walking trail: A few kilometres north of Norrboda is Askskär with a trail of approximately 1 km through Gräsö's forests. The trail is partly surfaced with wood chips and partly follows natural paths.

Storsand: Storsand is a natural bathing area just south of Mårtensboda. The beach consists of sand, gravel and smooth rocks. Parking, toilet and picnic tables are available.

Kattskär: From the cliffs at Kattskär you can swim and enjoy views towards Öregrund. There is a fire pit with firewood store. From the car park by the road, there is an approximately 200 m long path to the water, which passes through a meadow with grazing cows in summer.

Gräsö Infocentrum: At Gräsö gård there is an information centre where visitors can learn more about the island's natural and cultural landscape. There is a photo exhibition about the landscape on the island and information about attractions on Gräsö. Adjacent to the building are parking, picnic tables and toilet facilities. The entire area is accessibility-adapted.

Cycling on Gräsö: The intermediate cycle route is just under 20 km long and takes approximately 2.5–3 hours at a comfortable pace. There is also a shorter and a longer cycle route. Gräsö Church and the Russian Altar: Adjacent to the ferry landing is Gräsö Church, a wooden building with a separate bell tower that largely resembles the church that was completed in 1697. By the churchyard there is a picnic table. In Klockarhagen below the church is the Russian Altar, according to legend a memorial to Russian raiders in the 18th century; today a raised area shaped like a five-pointed star.

Högklyke: Högklyksberget is one of Gräsö's highest points at approximately 20 metres above sea level. Several trails exist in the area through coastal forest. Picnic tables are available. www.upplandsstiftelsen.se or the Naturtipset app.

Idön nature reserve: On the southernmost part of Gräsö lies Idön nature reserve, characterised by small-scale agriculture and forestry over a long period. Several marked trails start from the northern car park in an old gravel pit on the left side of the road. At Äspskär there are also parking facilities, information, picnic tables, toilet and well-trodden trails, though these are not marked. www.lansstyrelsen.se/uppsala, Upplandsstiftelsen or the Naturkartan app.

Äspskär: At the southernmost point of Gräsö lies Äspskär, a headland surrounded by sea on three sides. Here you can swim from the cliffs, take the small boat across to Rävsten or have a coffee break at the picnic tables. Several trails are available in Idön nature reserve. In summer, there can sometimes be many visitors here, as Äspskär is a hub for many residents and visitors among the islands around southern Gräsö, which can periodically make the car park tight for space.
