Gribbylund Chapel

Gribbylunds Chapel is a warm and welcoming church building located in a residential area near Gribbylunds centre in Täby. The chapel, which in its design resembles a larger wooden villa, was originally inaugurated in 1937 as an alliance chapel. After Täby parish took over the building in 1985, a comprehensive renovation was carried out under the direction of architect Uno Söderberg, and the chapel was reopened in 1990 with new interior furnishings and a newly built parish hall.

The building is well designed with three floors: the basement level contains facilities for youth activities, the ground floor houses the church room and a smaller assembly hall, and the upper floor houses the district office. The wooden skeleton resting on a concrete foundation is clad with white-painted shiplap and crowned by a saddle-roofed clay tile roof with a small copper cross on the eastern gable.

The church room is oriented east-west with a wooden relief on the chancel wall depicting the cross, the crown of thorns and the five wounds. Here you will find, among other things, an elegant violet baptismal font with an octagonal bowl, and an organ built in 2018 by Dutch master Henk Klop according to the tonal ideals of the baroque. The walls are decorated with wall lamps from 2000. East of the chapel stands a bell tower that was inaugurated in 1993.
