Hallstavik Church

Hallstavik belonged ecclesiastically to Häverö parish, but when the paper mill established itself in the community, the population grew rapidly. Soon a pastor was needed on site, and in 1920 the assistant vicar moved to the ironworks community. In the late 1920s a proposal was put forward that Hallstavik should get its own church. The proposal was supported both by Archbishop Nathan Söderblom and the mill manager. Holmens bruk donated a plot by the factory area, and Häverö parish began to collect money for the church building. Gunnar Torhamn painted the ceiling paintings depicting the four evangelists Mark, Luke, John and Matthew. The church's bell tower is a copy of the Gunilla Bell at Uppsala Castle.
