The church was originally a granite church from the 1400s. In the mid-1700s the church was rebuilt, and the tower was erected in 1781. During the 1900s the church underwent extensive restorations.
The crucifix, the church's oldest furnishing, is from the 1300s and the Madonna cabinet is from the 1400s. The church also has medieval sculptures and late-medieval paintings. The pulpit and altarpiece are from 1752. Harg Church dates from the late 1400s, but the only thing remaining from that time is the core of granite. The church has undergone many changes over the centuries. The Russians burned Roslagen in 1719, and during the rebuilding in the mid-1700s the church completely lost its medieval character.
