Husby Sjuhundra Church is one of the oldest churches in Uppland. The church is from the second half of the 1100s and was probably built by the son of Erik the Holy. In the 1200s the chancel was widened and the sacristy built. Two hundred years later the porch was added. The present church is characterised by the 1700s, with furnishings in rustic Rococo.
The parish name Husaby refers to husbys, which belonged to the king and were administrative units during the Viking Age and the early Middle Ages. In a husby lived the king's bailiff, and here the king came with his retinue to consume the taxes in kind. Husby-Sjuhundra Church is also known for its beautiful rune stones; one of them has an inscription suggesting that a Christian churchyard existed on this site as early as the late 1000s.
