Paddle in Roslagen Archipelago

Roslagen's archipelago with its thousands of islands, skerries and rocks is made for paddling. In a kayak or canoe you can reach places that are impossible to access any other way – remote coves, pristine swimming rocks and fishing villages that have survived since the 1800s. The sea is calm inside the archipelago and the coastline suits paddlers of all levels, from beginners to experienced sea kayakers.

Tips for paddling in Roslagen

• Best time: May–September. Summer evenings in calm weather are irresistible.
• Level: The inner archipelago suits beginners. Outer archipelago and open coast require experience.
• Right of public access: You are allowed to land on most islands. Respect bird protection areas (applies April–July on many islands).
• Equipment: Renting a kayak/canoe is the easiest way. Bring map, life jacket and waterproof packing.
