King Filmer's Path — the fairy tale trail in Roslagen's nature

Kung Filmers stig is a 5 km long and easy-walking trail that stretches from Stordammen in the east to Dannemora in the west, north of Österbybruk. The path combines nature and history in a way that is rare even in the culturally rich Roslagen: you walk along historic dam remains, past old pasture lands and remnants from the iron works' heyday — and in the background you sense a saga from 7th-century Uppland.

The king who gave the trail its name is Filmer, a petty king who according to legend ruled over the lakes that today are called Dannemorasjön and Filmsjön. At Filmers kulle there is a rest area with views over the oak pastures. Ekbacken, further along the trail, is the place where a church was once planned but never built — after mysterious events the place was renamed Spöklunden.

The trail connects at Klardammen in Dannemora to Karmdammen and further to Kulturstigen, which makes it possible to combine the trails into a longer full-day excursion.
