Kursöskogen Södra nature reserve

The nature reserve constitutes the southern part of the coniferous forest area Kursö-skogen along the northwestern shore of Edebovik north of Ormösundet, where the bay meets Galtfjärden. The reserve is a coniferous tree-dominated forest with deciduous tree elements, just under 2 hectares in size, on land with limestone content. The remaining part of Kursöskogen, north of the reserve, consists of forest with similar qualities. The highest parts of the area are at approximately 10–15 meters above sea level in the central part of the area. It then slopes gently towards the east and west. The forest, which in large parts is more than 120 years old, is dominated by spruce and pine with elements of aspen, birch and alder. There are few traces of recent large-scale forestry measures in the area. In connection with storm Alfrida in 2019, trees were blown down in the area. The reserve's boundaries consist of property boundaries, stand boundaries, and boundaries against power line corridors and roads in the east.
