Trails along coast and culture

Östhammars municipality has nearly forty nature reserves and a well-developed network of hiking trails. Vikingaleden and Upplandsleden are the two long trails that pass through the municipality, but for those moving around Östhammar town there are shorter alternatives such as Harvikaleden and Vallonstigen — the latter connects industrial heritage sites and cultural-historical places along an easy walk.

Kulturstigen at Österbybruk

At Österbybruk manor house, a network of nature trails begins with a total of 18 km of marked paths divided into three loops, of which Kulturstigen is 2 km and can be walked as a guided tour with historical storytelling along the way. It is a good way to understand how Uppland's industrial culture has shaped the landscape surrounding Östhammar.

Coast and archipelago

The municipality has a long coastline facing Roslagen's archipelago with nine municipal bathing places, many with barbecue facilities, changing rooms and playground. Paddling and boating are natural elements along the coast, and several inlets and coves offer calm waters close to shore. Östhammar town is a good base for those who want to explore the coastal landscape on foot, by bike or from a kayak.
