Arkadien, Rimbo

The Arkadien bathing spot is on the northern shore of Långsjön, south of Rimbo.

Björkliden Farm Museum

Björkliden farm museum aims to give you an insight into what life was like in the Stockholm archipelago in the past. On display are objects mainly from the early 1900s, depicting both people's lives and their work.

Björkö Örn bathing spot

The bathing spot is on the southern shore of Norrtäljeviken. Here you'll find a sandy beach with about 85 metres of north-facing shoreline.

Breviksbadet

Breviksbadet is a municipal bathing spot located by Trälhavet, six kilometres from Åkersberga. It's Österåker's largest bathing spot, with rocks and a sandy beach.

Domarudden

At Domarudden nature reserve and outdoor centre you'll find everything from swimming, a lakeside sauna and a café to areas for play and games and cabins for overnight stays. Within the nature reserve there is untouched nature, exercise trails and the chance to fish for game fish in Drängsjön with a fishing permit.

Eriksöbadet

A child-friendly bathing spot with a sandy beach. In summer there's a bathing jetty, a small diving tower and an accessible ramp leading into the water.

Finnhamn - Kålgårdsön

Finnhamn is the collective name for a group of islands that includes Stora Jolpan, Lilla Jolpan and Idholmen. On Finnhamn there is a hostel, a cabin village and sea barns, a campsite, a café, a restaurant, a guest harbour and beautiful natural harbours.

Fiskartorpet

Fiskartorpet is located in Sätterfjärden, within cycling distance of Åkersberga centre.

Experience a true wilderness with extensive wetlands, forests and small lakes.

Fredlarna

The Fredel skerries lie in the outer archipelago of Roslagen, six nautical miles inside Svenska Högarna, the outermost outpost towards the sea. Fredlarna consists of hundreds of small islands and skerries — the Inner and Outer Fredlarna.

Furusund

Take the Seven Rivers Road or the archipelago boat to Furusund — the high society's and authors' well-known archipelago paradise, brought back to life. Here, decorative fretwork, boating life, swimming and good food at the inn await.

Fåglarö

Fåglarö in Saxarfjärden has typical archipelago nature with rocks, beaches, forest, meadows — and excellent hiking paths. The island is served by Waxholmsbolaget all year round. The nearest jetty on the mainland is Lervik.

Fäviksgrundet nature reserve

The Fäviksgrundet nature reserve consists of the roughly 0.5-hectare island of Fäviksgrundet and lies about 20 km south of the town of Norrtälje.

Garnsviksbadet

Garnsviken has an inviting little bathing spot, Garnsviksbadet, consisting of a child-friendly sandy beach with a bathing jetty. The bathing spot is a popular resting place for canoeists paddling along the popular trail.

Gillberga gryte

There is something unreal about Gillberga gryte. As you come walking across the bog, you see the cracked rock. Boulders and crags lie toppled over. The whole rock looks as if it has split apart under the foot of a giant.

Gimobadet in Gimo is a child-friendly bathing spot with jetties, sand and grassy areas. The bathing spot has toilets, changing rooms and a bathing ramp for visitors with disabilities.

Gisenbadet in Edsbro

Gisenbadet is located on the northern shore of Lake Gisen, south of Edsbro.

Gisslingö

Gisslingö, 8 km northeast of Kapellskär, is the easternmost of the larger islands in Roslagen's outer archipelago. The island is part of areas of national interest for nature conservation, natural & cultural values, outdoor recreation and total defence.

Grisslehamn Chapel

The little chapel near the harbour in Grisslehamn was built in the early 1900s and was consecrated by Archbishop J.A. Ekman.

Gräskö

Gräskö in Gräsköfjärden, southeast of the Rådmansö peninsula, was owned by Penningby for several hundred years. Here you'll find everything from a boatyard, child-friendly bathing and a general store to a summer café, library and photo exhibitions.

Gräsö gård nature reserve

Right next to the ferry berth on Gräsö lies Gräsö gård nature reserve. Here small fields are interspersed among the rocky outcrops, and cows graze along the shores.

The bathing spot is on the southern shore of Lake Gunnsjön, about 2 kilometres from Bergshamra.

Hallstavik outdoor baths

Hallstavik outdoor pool is a heated outdoor bath where the pools are around 27 degrees.

Hargshamn outdoor bath is a child-friendly bathing spot located next to Hargshamn campsite.

Hiking and cycling trail on Singö & Fogdö

The Levande Roslagsbygd association has marked out hiking trails and paths on the islands of Singö and Fogdö, in the northern parts of Norrtälje municipality.

Husarö Pilot Museum

Husarö has from time immemorial been one of the strategic pilot stations in the Stockholm archipelago. A completely preserved pilot homestead is today the Husarö Pilot Museum.

Håknäs bathing spot

Håknäs bathing spot is on Vätö, on the northern shore of Norrtäljeviken, in a southwesterly position.

Häverö-Bergby nature reserve

The nature reserve has one of Sweden's largest occurrences of the orchid lady's slipper, which blooms here annually in around 1,000 specimens.

Högmarsö

Högmarsö lies southwest of Furusund by the Furusund channel. The island has about 60 permanent residents and around 1,000 holiday residents. Norrviken has a good all-weather harbour for boating guests. Restaurang Varvet is well worth a visit.

Idö

On Idö the landscape is kept open with haymaking and grazing animals from Simesgården on Arholma. Lovely paths wind between idyllic meadowland, smooth rock slabs, lush marshes, old farmland and dense coniferous forest.

Idön nature reserve

On the southernmost part of Gräsö lies Idön nature reserve, where the land is strongly shaped by the small-scale farming and forestry that has been carried out here over long periods.

Ingmarsö and Brottö

Ingmarsö is a well-preserved island with villages, harbour bays and remnants of an older cultural landscape — of national interest for cultural heritage conservation. Here there is a restaurant, accommodation, hiking trails, Icelandic horses, bikes and kayaks.

Ingmarsö-Brottö heritage museum

At Norrgården, in the middle of the island of Ingmarsö, lies the Ingmarsö archipelago museum. Here, life on the islands of Ingmarsö and Brottö from the 900s to today is reflected. The museum is packed with stories and objects — everything from tall tales and history to clothes, gadgets and boats.

Kallriga nature reserve, Kallerö

A beautiful and exciting coastal landscape meets you when you arrive at Kallerö, adjacent to the southern parts of the Kallriga nature reserve.

Karl Church ruin

Karl's church ruin is in Söderbykarl, about 15 km outside Norrtälje. Until the 1700s, Söderby-Karl was divided into two parishes, Karl's and Söderby. Karl's parish was the smaller one, and in 1812 the last service was held in Karl's Church, which was then left to fall into ruin.

Kärleksudden bathing spot

A bathing spot in central Norrtälje between Norrtäljeviken and Kvisthamraviken. Here there's a sandy beach with about 50 metres of shoreline and a sloping lawn.

Largen bathing spot

The bathing spot is on the northern shore of Lake Largen and has about 60 metres of south-facing shoreline. Here you'll find both a sandy beach and flat lawns that are perfect for both play and relaxation.

Lidö

Lidö is a family-friendly destination and an idyllic nature reserve. Families with children and laid-back boating people come here, drawn by a secluded swimming bay, a flowering meadow and a good dinner at Lidö inn.

Lindbackenbadet in Rånäs

The bathing spot is located north of the Rånäs community, by the southern part of Lake Gavellångsjön. Here there's a lovely sandy beach and grassy areas. The shoreline is about 15 metres and consists of grass and sand. The nearest town is Rånäs, about 1.5 kilometres away.

Lindholmen nature reserve

Lindholmen nature reserve is about 4 hectares and lies just east of the town of Norrtälje, by the treatment plant of the same name.

Linkudden nature reserve

The Linkudden nature reserve consists of a headland and is located on Blidö in Stockholm's middle archipelago.

Ljusterö

Ljusterö is one of the archipelago's largest islands. Here, well-preserved archipelago villages, fishing hamlets, Iron Age burial grounds, a living agricultural landscape — art, opera, activities, fishing, swimming and boating life await.

Ljusterö heritage museum

Ljusterö heritage museum, boat and fishing museum and general store. The Ljusterö heritage museum building is a dwelling house from the 1700s. It was built in Vadholma, on the southern part of Ljusterö.

Lommarbadet

The bathing spot is on the eastern shore of the lake. Next to Lommarbadet lies Vigelsjö outdoor recreation area.

Lundabadet

Lundabadet is one of Norrtälje municipality's larger bathing spots. The bathing spot is located about 8 km outside Norrtälje, on the northern shore of Norrtäljeviken.

Lågarö-Örn bathing spot on Rådmansö

Lågarö-Örn's bathing spot is on Rådmansö and has sand at the shoreline but otherwise a flat lawn. Here you'll find a roughly 68-metre shoreline.

Malstabadet

Malstabadet is located about 8 km from Norrtälje, below Malsta Church on the northern shore of Lake Malstasjön. The bathing spot has a 20-metre south-facing shoreline and a flat lawn with the occasional tree.

Marum nature reserve

Marum nature reserve consists of three areas — one area on southern Björkö, the western part of Marboö, and the small island of Kattören.

Marumbadet on Björkö

Marum bathing spot is on Björkö, about 3.5 kilometres from Älmsta. Here there's a shallow sandy beach surrounded by pine forest.

Mjölkö

Mjölkö lies off Lervik and Flaxenvik in southern Roslagen. The island was once a day-labourer's croft under Margretelund's estate. The island is served by Waxholmsbolaget and is 10 minutes by boat from Lervik jetty.

The bathing spot is located outside Bergshamra, about 15 kilometres from Norrtälje.

Mälbybadet

Mälby bathing spot is on the eastern shore of Ortalaviken, about 3.5 kilometres north of Älmsta.

Norra Malma nature reserve

The nature reserve consists of an oak pasture and is beautifully located on the southeastern shore of Lake Erken.

Nysättrabadet

Nysättrabadet is on the western shore of Vätösundet, east of Nysättra.

Näsudden nature reserve

Näsudden nature reserve consists of a peninsula located in Stockholm's inner archipelago, surrounded by Täljöviken/Svinningeviken to the west and Tunafjärden to the northeast.

Oxnäset nature reserve

Oxnäset nature reserve is in Rådmansby on Rådmansö and is part of a broad headland of the same name.

Raggarön hiking trail

Welcome to Raggarö to walk and cycle on 17 km of trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels.

Rörvik nature reserve covers most of the Ramvik headland, which stretches out into Bagghusfjärden.

Siaröfortet on Kyrkogårdsön

Construction of Siarö Fort on Kyrkogårdsön began during the First World War. But by the time the top-secret defence facility was completed, it was already declared obsolete. Today Siarö Fort is a fascinating underground museum.

Singö and Fogdö

Skederid Church

Saint Bridget's father, the lawman Birger Persson, probably built Skederid Church as a manor church. The sacristy and chancel in today's church were the chancel and nave of the old manor church.

Sladdstycket

The 'Sladdstycket' heritage museum is beautifully located in the middle of Riddersholm nature reserve, right next to the Furusund channel.

Solöbadet

At the bathing spot on Solö you'll find a shallow bathing area with sand and a lawn. The shoreline is about 20 m, and there is a jetty and bathing ladder. The bathing spot also has a changing room and toilet. In summer, swimming lessons are usually held at Solöbadet. There is parking at Solöbadet. You can also get here by bus 632 and 634 towards Yxlan/Blidö.

Spillersboda bathing spot

In the village of Spillersboda, about 10 km outside Norrtälje, you'll find this bathing spot. The bathing spot has a sandy beach with about 20 metres of south-facing shoreline. Pine forest surrounds the bathing spot. There are also boat berths here. The bathing spot has a toilet and changing room.

Stora Elgö

Stora Elgö/Älgö is in the middle archipelago about 3 km east of Åkersberga, north of Vaxholm and west of Grinda, right where Trälhavet meets Västra Saxarfjärden. The Lervik shipping channel runs west of Stora Älgö.

Stora Timrarö

Stora Timrarö is a medium-sized island in the Furusund channel between Ljusterö and the mainland. Since the 1700s the island has been known for its good groundwater quality. Many vessels have anchored here and filled their water supplies.

Svenska Högarna

Svenska Högarna is Sweden's largest marine nature reserve. It lies in Norrtälje municipality, furthest east in Stockholm's outer archipelago. The well-known lighthouse was designed by Gustav von Heidenstam in the 1800s.

Söderöra

Söderöra is a 2 km long island just east of Blidö. The island has about 25 permanent residents and 400 summer residents. The village has authentic archipelago buildings and beautiful archipelago nature. Parts of the TV series Saltkråkan were filmed here.

Tenöbadet

At Tenö outdoor recreation area on Bogesund you can swim from both a sandy beach and rocks.

The Albert Engström Museum

The museum is located some distance from the harbour, out towards the sea. From the visitor car park you walk 600 m along a scenic gravel road. On the way you pass Engströmsgården with the museum and the Illustrator's House (the former Stable) before reaching the Studio. There is also an alternative path to the Studio through the garden of Engströmsgården. However, this path is uneven, with obstacles such as roots, and is not recommended for visitors who have difficulty walking on rough terrain.

The Health Path in Österåker

The Hälsans Stig in Åkersberga runs partly along Åkers kanal. The walking paths are also exciting to visit in the evening; along Åkers kanal and the Hälsans Stig there are many illuminated artworks and spots that add to the experience and to a greater sense of security when heading out when it's a little darker.

The Långalma path on Söderön

The Långalma trail winds through forest and pastures. A walk along this trail is 5–6 km long, and you mostly walk on roads or forest roads, but some parts are forest path.

The pilgrim trail on Ljusterö

About 800 metres from Ljusterö Torg is the Pilgrim Trail, which was inaugurated in 2016. The trail was created by volunteers from the Church of Sweden. The trail's 2.6 km route is demanding in places and takes at least an hour to walk around.

The Uppland Trail

The main route of the Uppland Trail is 500 km long and divided into three sections. In addition there are a number of loops along the trail.

Valsjön is a lake about 4 km from Åkersberga centre. To reach the bathing spot you need to take a short walk through the forest from the car park.

Vaxholm - Vaxön

Vaxholm, located on Vaxön, is called the capital of the archipelago and is the gateway to Roslagen from Stockholm. Vaxholm is a hub for boat traffic in the middle and northern archipelago — the Roslagen archipelago.

Vigelsjö nature reserve

The nature reserve lies between the lakes Lommaren and Ludden, directly adjacent to the town of Norrtälje. The area is popular for outdoor recreation, with nature trails and bridle paths, a campsite and a floodlit trail.

Väddö

Väddö is Roslagen's largest island, with fairytale hidden gems, the idyllic Väddö canal and the captivating Sea of Åland. Here, hiking with sea views, art, sustainable design and locally produced delicacies await.

Vällenbadet

Vällenbadet is a child-friendly and accessible bathing spot consisting of sand and grassy areas. The bathing spot is about 15 km east of Alunda in Östhammar municipality. Here you can enjoy both swimming and fishing.

Vässarö

Vässarö is the scouts' island in the outer archipelago between Grisslehamn and Öregrund. The property comprises about 100 small islands and skerries, of which Vässarö is the largest. Every year, thousands of young people come here for various camps.

Vätö

The Royal Opera, the Parliament House and several well-known buildings, quays and bridges in Stockholm were built from pink-red Vätö granite. Vätö is now an idyll of great cultural-historical value, with stonecutters' crofts and lovely bathing spots.

Yxlan

The long, narrow island of Yxlan lies between Furusund and Blidö in Stockholm's northern / Roslagen's middle archipelago. At Yxlan's northern tip is the archipelago community of Köpmanholm, the island's main village.

Åkeröbadet

The Åkerö bathing spot lies between Bålö and Åkerö in Åkeröfjärden, about 15 kilometres outside Norrtälje.

Älvsnäs open-air baths

Älvsnäs outdoor bath is on the southern part of Söderön in Östhammar municipality, by Raggaröfjärden.

Äpplarö

Äpplarö lies in Gälnan north of Ingmarsö in Österåker municipality. Part of Äpplarö is included in a nature reserve with about 20 surrounding islands, islets and skerries with middle-archipelago nature in Äpplaröfjärden and Gälnan.

Österbybruk's trails - hiking in a Walloon ironworks setting

Österåker heritage museum and Stenhagen's store
