The islands in Stora Värtan Nature Reserve are a protected area in Danderyds Municipality that was created to preserve the unique natural values that the islands offer. The reserve encompasses several islands and skerries – among them Limpholmarna, Svalnäsholmen, Råholmen and Västerskär – together comprising approximately 116 hectares.
The vegetation on the islands is dominated by coniferous forest with elements of deciduous forest, which creates a rich and varied natural environment. The northern skerries are particularly valuable as a bird sanctuary, making the reserve an important habitat for birds and other wildlife.
