In the heart of Rimbo centre is Opalen — a professional cultural venue in southern Roslagen. With 343 seats and a flexible concert stage, Opalen hosts touring theatre, concerts and local productions year-round.
A modern venue for all of Roslagen
Opalen is a fully equipped cultural venue located at Rånäsvägen 26 in Rimbo, a quarter south of Norrtälje city centre. The auditorium seats 343 spectators and the stage is designed for flexibility: the proscenium opening is up to 13.5 metres wide (adjustable to 7 metres) and up to 6.5 metres high, with 7.2 metres of clear stage depth. This makes it possible to host everything from intimate chamber productions to large-scale musical productions.
The venue is run by Norrtälje municipality and functions as a complement to the municipality's other cultural venues. Opalen welcomes professional touring theatre and concert promoters, but also welcomes associations and independent organisers who want to create their own events — with access to professional technical equipment and a well-equipped audience.
Concerts, theatre and lectures
Opalen's programme is diverse: concerts in all genres, children's theatre, drama productions, stand-up comedy and lectures. The stage is an important meeting place for the cultural life of Rimbo and southern Roslagen, and offers a professional setting that is otherwise lacking in this part of the municipality.
