Pythagoras Industrial Museum

In a well-preserved motor factory from the late 1800s in Norrtälje, you encounter industrial history up close — with original machinery, an authentic office environment and a 500-square-meter play hall for children.

A factory frozen in time

Pythagoras Industrial Museum in Norrtälje is a living industrial museum housed in a preserved factory building from the late 1800s. The factory was operational until 1965 and manufactured glow plug engines that were sold on the world market. The original interior is preserved, from the factory floor with its machinery to office spaces with authentic furnishings and a workers home from the 1940s.

Guided tours

During guided tours, machine sounds can still be heard from the large test run hall. Visitors can follow the manufacturing process and understand how the engines were tested before being shipped to customers around the world.

Pythagoras for Children

A 500 square meter play hall lets children explore the history of technology through experiments and play — with work coats, time clocks, Morse code and recycling. During summer, Childrens Backyard also opens for outdoor play. The play hall is closed during the coldest winter months.

Visiting the museum
