Råda nature reserve

Part of the Natura 2000 area Södra Råda (SE0110269). Of the proposed extension, 2.3 hectares are assessed as core habitat and 2.3 hectares as development land and consolidation land. The core habitat is not classified as any habitat type in the Natura 2000 area. However, lady's slipper orchids grow there. Lady's slipper orchids are listed in Annex 2 to the EU Habitats Directive (species code 1902) and are thus protected by the Natura 2000 regulations. Approximately 2.1 hectares of the core habitat is key biotope with a habitat type that is of the same kind as that in the adjacent part of the existing reserve, a relatively sparse older spruce-dominated calcareous forest. The forest has a pasture-influenced structure and a significant proportion of aspen, hazel and birch. Lady's slipper orchids also grow here. Wood anemone is a characteristic species in the field layer and a number of other lime-indicating species were visible during field visits in November: toothwort, lungwort, wood sorrel, musk stork's-bill and fragrant fern-grass.
