On the site where the chapel stands, there was previously a church that was demolished before the end of the 1700s, when the two parishes of Fasta and Esterna were merged. In 1908 the chapel was built, and it was most recently renovated in 1958.
The stained-glass painting in the chancel was made after a design by the Roslagen artist Harald Lindberg. The bell tower was raised in the 1850s, when the site was again taken into use as a burial ground.
