Rinkebyskogen nature reserve

Rinkebyskogen Nature Reserve is the largest green area in Danderyd municipality and a valuable forest area that extends into the northwestern parts of Stockholm County. The forest borders both Sollentuna and Täby municipalities and forms an important part of a larger green wedge that connects the area between several neighboring municipalities.

For those who love hiking and spending time in nature, Rinkebyskogen offers many opportunities. Here starts the beautiful hiking trail Roslagsleden, which is approximately 120 kilometers long and continues all the way to Grisslehamn via Norrtälje. In addition to this, there are several exercise trails within the area, as well as opportunities for golf and training at a golf course and driving range.

The forest is undergoing an exciting transformation. After Swedish Kraftnät buried a power cable through the area, open spaces were created that are now allowed to grow naturally. A decision has been made to let the forest recover at its own pace — from weeds and meadow plants onwards to a future natural forest with more deciduous trees. New wetlands have also been created, and information signs tell the story of this interesting nature conservation project.
