Rörviksskogens nature reserve

The forest consists mainly of mature spruce-dominated coniferous forest with natural forest characteristics on calcareous soil, so-called lime-rich coniferous forest. In addition to spruce, there are remnants of old thick pine and aspen, as well as some birch, alder and other broadleaf trees. Hazel occurs in several places. The ground is fresh to moist with flowing groundwater, and scattered throughout the area are several wet gullies and smaller marshes with socketed trees of alder, spruce and birch. Parts of the area are included in the Forestry Board's swamp forest inventory (moist mixed forest with large alder content). The forest has been allowed to develop freely for a long time. In the area, there are structures such as old and slow-growing trees as well as dead wood in various stages of decay and from different tree species. Old gnarled spruces testify to the fact that the area was historically more sparse and was presumably used as forest pasture, as were so many other forests in the district. There are two registered key biotopes in the area. During the inventory, a large number of indicator species and red-listed species were noted. Among others, there is a rich fungal flora with species such as rosy elfcup, woolly tooth fungus and copper hedgehog fungus.
