Rösjön

An elongated lake near Stockholm

Rösjön is located approximately 15 kilometers north of Stockholm and is an elongated lake that primarily belongs to Sollentuna municipality, with a smaller part in Danderyd municipality. The lake is approximately 1,500 meters long and 300 meters wide, with a maximum depth of 7.3 meters. The name is believed to come from a stone cairn on an island in the southern part of the lake, which once marked the boundary between two administrative areas.

The lake has a rich fish stock with species such as perch, pike, roach, bream and burbot, as well as crayfish. Rösjön is a popular destination with three bathing spots along the shore — the largest with facilities such as camping, kiosk, diving tower and football pitch is located in Sollentuna, while the others can be reached from the Danderyd and Täby sides.

The lake is surrounded by forest and is part of a larger drainage area that mainly consists of woodland. Water from Rösjön flows through Fjätursbäcken further out into nature.
