Roslagsleden - Stage 2
Hike Roslagsleden from Danderyd to Grisslehamn. The trail is 190 kilometers long and divided into 11 stages. Stage 2 runs between Karby gård and Östra and is 13 km long.
Stage Overview
Stage 2 takes hikers 13 km north from Karby gård towards Örsta and Angarnssjöängens Nature Reserve. The terrain is gently rolling with forest paths, gravel roads and patches of open agricultural landscape. The stage is classified as moderate (blue) and takes approximately 3.5 hours.
Along the Trail
Just north of Karby gård, the trail reaches Löttingekullen — Täby Municipality's highest natural point at 58 metres — with expansive views over the surroundings. The hilltop is also known for Bronze Age burial cairns, one of several heritage sites along the stage. The forests around Gävsjön offer abundant mushroom habitats and varied flora. One of the stage's clearest historical traces is Korvlinjen, a fortification from the early 1900s, whose remains are preserved in the forest. Towards the end, the landscape opens towards Angarnssjöängen, one of the Stockholm region's most important bird lakes with a hundred nesting and resting bird species. The viewing tower by the lake provides a fine overview. Along the route there are several sheltered rest areas with fireplaces.
Practical Information
The stage starts at Karby gård (Täby Cultural Centre) with accessible parking. The endpoint is Örsta, near Angarnssjöängen, with bus connections. SL buses serve both ends. Toilets and drinking water are available at several places along the way. Difficulty level: moderate (blue marking).
