Roslagsleden - Stage 8

Stage Overview

Stage 8 is a 12.6 km stage heading north from Vigelsjö towards Roslagsbro, one of Roslagen's most historically significant places. The terrain is easy to walk with tractor tracks, jogging trails and gravel roads. The stage takes approximately 3 hours and is classified as moderate (blue).

Along the Trail

The route begins in Vigelsjö Nature Reserve, a forested area with varied nature and rich bird life. Shortly after, Lake Ludden is reached, which was previously overgrown but has been restored to recreate conditions for birdlife — a bird tower with a ramp is accessible for everyone. At Nånö Oak slopes, south of the lake, 200-year-old oaks and hazel bushes protect a well-preserved cultural landscape. Just north of Highway 76 lies Färsna Farm, an active agricultural farm with visitor activities, a year-round vegan café and an older agricultural museum with tractors and equipment. The highlight of the stage is Roslags-Bro Church, known since Bishop Nathan Söderblom called it "Roslagen's Cathedral". The church has roots dating back to the 13th century and contains Sweden's oldest preserved altar panel, painted in the 15th century. The unknown artist is called the "Roslagen Master".

Practical Information

Parking is available at Lommarbadet, Färsna Farm and Vårlyckans IP. Toilets and drinking water are available along the stage. Swimming areas with sandy beaches are located along the way. Difficulty level: moderate (blue marking).
