Roslagsleden - Stage 9

Stage Overview

Stage 9 is the longest stage of Roslagsledens at 23.8 km. From Roslagsbro the trail leads north through the open landscape of Väddöbygden towards Gåsvik and the beginning of Väddö Canal. Despite its length, the terrain is easy to walk with gravel roads and wide trails. Estimated time is 6 hours and the difficulty level is medium (blue).

Along the Trail

Shortly after the start, the trail passes Brosjön, one of the county's finest bird lakes with rich vegetation and a broad spectrum of lake and waterfowl. Along the stretch towards Vik and Råda, the trail runs partly along the old church path that villagers once walked to Söderbykarl's Church — along the way is the barn Tandrudan, which was used as a rest shelter on the church path. Between Brölunda and Vik lies Kvarnfallet, a beautiful waterfall at an old mill complex. At Erikskulle homestead, a couple of hundred metres from the trail, is Viksbåten — a unique boat from the Viking Age that was found in the area. The rest area at Rådasjön offers swimming, windbreak shelter, fireplace and toilet. The trail ends at Bagghusbron near Gåsvik, where Väddö Canal begins.

Practical Information

Parking is available at Vårlyckans IP and at Råda bathing place (24 hours weekdays). SL buses run to Drottningdal (start) and Bagghus road junction (end). Drinking water and toilets are available at the rest areas. Difficulty level: medium (blue marking).
