St Olof's Church

Sankt Olofs Church is beautifully situated in Viggbyholm and belongs to Täby parish. The church has a special history – it was originally built in 1929 as Kristineberg Chapel, but was redesigned and developed into today's Sankt Olofs Church according to designs by architect Evert Milles. After being relocated, the church was inaugurated in 1941 by Archbishop Erling Eidem.

The church interior offers a rich collection of art and antique furniture. The altarpiece, painted by professor Einar Forseth, depicts the risen Christ before the tomb. A particular treasure is two glass mosaics from the 1790s, executed in Italy, showing the Annunciation of Mary and the Birth of Jesus. The church also contains candelabras in chased brass from the 1700s, gifts from the nearby Näsby Castle.

The church has undergone several modernizations. The current organ, built in 1971 by Walter Thür Orgelbyggen AB, replaced an earlier Cecilia organ from 1945. The furnishings were also updated – the altar, pulpit and church benches were manufactured according to designs from 1991 and delivered in 2003.
