Already in the time of Per Brahe the Younger, there seems to have been a place of worship in the castle. In the sources, the great hall on the fourth floor is sometimes called the church hall, because it was there that the count married his second wife in 1653.

Byviksfortet, also known as the 8th Battery, is a fortification located on Rindö in Vaxholm Municipality.

Resarö is a four-kilometre island in Vaxholm municipality — and the place that gave four chemical elements their names. Nine elements in total have been discovered in the minerals of Ytterby mine, more than anywhere else on earth.

Rindö, just outside Vaxholm, has been fortified since the days of Gustav Vasa. Today its defence works house an art gallery, a boat museum store and a swimming spot — and the island is reached by car ferry from two directions.
