Sailing in Roslagen — guest harbors and boating life along the coast

Roslagen's coast stretches along the archipelago of Uppland and Stockholm counties from Österåker in the south to Grisslehamn in the north — a landscape shaped by thousands of islands, skerries and rocks with calm bays and open fjords in between. Here you'll find one of Sweden's richest selection of guest harbours, and boating is an integral part of the region's identity.

Guest harbours along the coast

In Northern Roslagen, Öregrund Guest Harbour accommodates up to 66 boats in depths between 3 and 12 metres. The harbour is newly renovated with a service building heated by solar panels and a complete range of facilities: petrol, diesel, gas, mast crane, engine service, launching ramp and pump-out service. Östhammar Guest Harbour (20 berths, 1–1.5 m depth) is located near the town centre and is suitable for shallow-draught vessels.

In Central Roslagen, Norrtälje Guest Harbour is the largest with 120 berths and depths of 1–4 metres, located at the harbour entrance to Norrtälje town — the region's lively hub in summer. Further out in the archipelago, Gräddö Sjömack & Guest Harbour offers 40–50 berths with service building, shower and sauna. Furusund Guest Harbour has approximately 80 berths (2–3 m depth) at Furusund's guest house. Grisslehamn Marina in the north has 77 berths with full facilities including boatyard.

In Southern Roslagen, archipelago life is accessed via Österåker, with Älmsta Guest Harbour (50 berths, 3–6 m depth) at the northern end of Väddö canal — equipped with sauna, laundry and Wi-Fi.

Best time to sail

High season is June–August when most guest harbours have full staffing and services. Pre- and post-season (May and September) are preferable for those seeking peace — the weather can be beautiful and the harbours are almost empty.
