Själbottna

Själbottna is located south of Yxlan and Blidö by Husaröleden. The nature reserve is owned by Skärgårdsstiftelsen. Through clearing, hay-making and grazing, parts of Själbottna's historic cultivated landscape are being restored. There are plenty of marked walking trails, and the area is easily accessible with grazing meadows, bathing coves, leafy groves and natural harbors. A broad path leads through the area. An area in the northeast around Långnäsholmarna is a bird sanctuary and closed off for part of the year. Half of the peninsula consists of the reserve. On the other half there are cottages and houses built by early summer visitors and seafaring farmers. On the other side of Storfladen lies Östra Lagnö, whose northern corner is owned by Skärgårdsstiftelsen; there too, meadows and fields are kept accessible. The reserve is well-visited year-round. To the east, Brännholmen offers space for individual campers by the sea. In winter, ice skaters come by SL bus. The trails are used by joggers and by people with mobility impairments in wheelchairs. On warm summer days, the bathing rocks are popular. Waxholmsbolaget operates from Stockholm to Själbottna during the summer season. The jetty is not accessibility-adapted.
