The church is on the outskirts of the village of Gimo and was built in the 1400s. The baptismal font with its base is from the 1100s or 1200s, and the lime paintings are probably from the 1580s. The altarpiece, hymn board and pulpit — the latter by Olof Gerdman — are from 1754.
In the mid-1700s the church interior underwent a transformation, and the ironworks owner of the time, Louis de Geer, donated the pulpit to the parish. At this time the present altarpiece was also set up. The church was restored in 1965.
