Skederid Church

After Bridget's canonisation, many pilgrims made pilgrimages to Skederid church, and so the present nave and porch were added in the 1400s. A new entrance was built in the west, where you can still open the iron-clad door from the Middle Ages. The medieval lychgate, the gate to the churchyard, was rebuilt into a bell tower in the 1700s. Outside the bell tower today stands a memorial stone donated by Roslagen's Antiquities Society with Bridget's prayer: "Lord, show me the way, and make me willing to walk it". In Skederid church a Bridget exhibition is shown. You can get here by bus 676 from Stockholm and get off at Rösa interchange. Here you change to bus 677 towards Uppsala and get off at Finsta station. From there it is about 600 metres to the church.
