Stadsbruk Roslagen

Stadsbruk Roslagen is a project about developing and contributing to increased local and organic food production in and near the town. This is done by enabling the town's and municipality's residents to become entrepreneurs with commercial cultivation as a base. The project was initiated by Coompanion Roslagen & Norrort, which wants to see more companies focused on social, economic and environmental sustainability. Through cultivation according to local and organic principles, in the meeting between urban farming and agriculture, the aim is to create economic and social effects in and around the town. The urban farming is intended to contribute to jobs, livelihoods, quality of life, meeting places and better opportunities for integration. According to project manager Pascal Letter at Coompanion Roslagen & Norrort, the intention is also to cultivate on unused land in and around the town centre as well as in Roslagen at large, to create a geographical spread of activities, meeting places and jobs. The project aims to inspire, provide knowledge and develop urban-adjacent cultivation as part of the transition towards a more sustainable society, where local and organic provision contributes to the climate. The goal is for Stadsbruk Roslagen to shape green entrepreneurs who help position the municipality within green entrepreneurship. One of the participants, Katarina Holmberg who runs Norrtelje Musteri, takes part to learn organic cultivation and, in the long run, inspire others.
