Stora Elgö

Stora Elgö consists of about 80 holiday properties. Few people have been permanent residents on the island during the 2000s. The nearest places on the mainland are Flaxenvik and Lervik (about 0.5–1 km by boat). Neighbouring islands are Mjölkö to the north, Lilla Älgö to the west and Oranjeholmen to the south. Between Stora Älgö and Mjölkö lies an unnamed islet, which you can pass both to the north and the south with a deep-draught leisure boat, but the northern side is perceived as the widest. There is boat traffic to and from Elgö all year round. But the service does not run as often year-round, so check the timetable before you travel.
