Discover Rånäs
Rånäs Slott is one of Roslagen's most remarkable historical monuments – a castle in Fasterna, Norrtälje Municipality, with origins dating back to the Middle Ages and a façade from the mid-1800s. Today it is a hotel and conference centre.
Rånäs Slott – History and Character
Rånäs Slott is located by Skedviken in Fasterna parish in Norrtälje Municipality. The estate is mentioned as early as the 1300s and has throughout its long history belonged to several of Sweden's most powerful families, including the Oxenstierna and Stenbock families.
The present main building was constructed 1833–1844 according to designs by architect Per Axel Nyström and is characterized by the 19th century romantic style with its towers and castle-like proportions. The castle park and proximity to Lake Skedviken give the property a picturesque and atmospheric setting.
From Care Home to Hotel
Throughout much of the 20th century, Rånäs was used by the City of Stockholm as a care home. Since the renovation in 1999 it has been a hotel and conference venue with 79 beds and modern meeting rooms – all in a genuinely historic environment.

Rånäs Slott is reached by car and is located just over 1 hour north of Stockholm, near Norrtälje.
