Travel a thousand years back in time at Viking Village Storholmen — an archaeological open-air museum by Lake Erken where authentic Viking houses, living crafts and a genuine Viking boat await.
Living history by Lake Erken
Vikingabyn Storholmen is an open-air museum outside Svanberga, north of Norrtälje, where visitors encounter the Viking Age up close. The facility consists of longhouses and smaller buildings constructed using Viking-era building techniques, surrounded by the lakeside landscape of Erken.
What you can experience
During guided tours, the museum's guides demonstrate traditional crafts such as blacksmithing, wool work and pottery. You can try archery, learn to write with runes and board an authentic Viking ship. During the season, markets, Viking games and guided tours are arranged, and there is an opportunity to book boat trips and courses.
